The DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS and SHARED_POOL_SIZE were increased, resulting in tremendous improvement in performance

·        The performance of large batch jobs, which included import of large tables and execution of stored procedures, was considerably improved by the addition of a rollback segment and tuning OPTIMAL to minimise the number of shrinks

·        Monitored the number of sorts in memory and the number of disk sorts. The performance of large sorting operations was improved by increasing SORT_AREA_SIZE and optimising the use of temporary table-space. Optimised parameters to decrease redo log space requests and Enqueue waits
